Ladybug

Seven-spot ladybirds are found all over the world and can reach a body length of 7-12mm. Their distinctive spots and attractive colours make them unappealing to predators. They can secrete a fluid from joints in their legs which gives them a foul taste. A threatened ladybird may both play dead and secrete the unappetising substance to protect itself.

They’re also considered to be very lucky in many cultures, having one land on you is considered to be a ‘kiss of good luck”.

The heart is cut from copper and has numerous layers of enamel glass that is kiln fired at 800 degrees celsius. The ladybug is hand painted and fired several times to give a glossy finish. The setting is made from sterling silver and comes with a 45cm /18″ sterling chain.

The heart measures approx 23mm high x 24mm wide, the garnet gem measures 6 x 8mm.
