Make a Ring in a Day Workshop

In this fun one day workshop, you’ll design and create your own sterling silver ring.

With professional jewellers tools, using traditional silver smithing techniques, you’ll learn how to design, anneal, size and solder a beautiful ring to take home with you.

The workshop is open to beginners and anyone wanting to learn the basics of making sterling silver jewellery, no experience is necessary.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

SAW-PIERCING

Using a jewellers frame and saw-blade, you’ll learn how to saw-pierce metal to cut out the design and shape of your ring.

SOLDERING

Using a professional torch, you’ll learn the technique needed to establish the correct flame to join the ring band.

FINISHING

You’ll learn finishing techniques like stamping, hammer texturing, polishing and adding a patina.

WHAT YOU’LL MAKE

A copper ring to test your techniques on, a sterling silver ring created by you.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

All of the tools and consumables needed are supplied, including a copper and sterling silver strip to make your rings.

Covered in shoes
Long sleeves are preferable
Long pants
Long Hair must be tied back
No dangly jewellery

ABOUT YOUR TUTOR

Meg has been silversmithing since 2012.

In 2018 she completed a 3 year Jewellery Manufacturing Certificate at The Design Centre Enmore in Sydney.

Meg began teaching silver smithing workshops at the Sydney Community College in 2016 including:

Meg continues to produce jewellery and teach what she loves to others looking to improve their skills in traditional silversmithing techniques.

Terms & Conditions

Participants must be over 16 years of age and adhere to all safety precautions whilst on the premises.

Refunds will not be processed if you cancel within 48 hours of the class or event commencing. To request a credit or transfer, Ahoy Birdy requires at least 48 hours notice via email prior to the start of a class or event. Please email info@ahoybirdy.com to organise.

Ahoy Birdy does not offer refunds, transfers, or makeup sessions for missed classes. If you can’t make a class, you can arrange with Ahoy Birdy to send someone else in your place.

In the event that a class is cancelled by Ahoy Birdy, students will be notified via text message or email and entitled to a full refund, transfer or credit.
